Hello! I’m Jaime, a Counseling Intern at Children’s Trauma Healing Center. I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Rider University.
My past experiences working directly with children and advocacy for children in various settings led me to pursue a specialization in working with children and families impacted by trauma. I have seen first hand the vast impact of adversity across physical, emotional, relational, behavioral, and cognitive development. I have also had the chance to witness the profound impact of connection and relationship in supporting a child’s positive developmental growth and healing from adversity.
These experiences inform my approach to counseling that centers person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-responsive, and attachment informed principles, grounding in the healing powers of play and relationship. I am dedicated to building trusting and collaborative relationships with not only the children I serve, but the families and systems that surround and hold the child.
As a person and counselor, I not only value each child and family’s identity, lived experiences, strengths, neurotype, and culture, but use this understanding to inform the ways I provide support honoring their unique individuality. I am committed to approaching all children and families with a deep curiosity and desire to create a space of safety where they can feel seen, understood, and empowered.
I am passionate about continuously engaging in learning, self-reflection, and challenging my own internalized biases and approach to this work.
